The Role

As Sous Chef, you will:

  • Support the Head Chef in leading and developing a high-performing kitchen team
  • Assist in menu development and execution, ensuring exceptional quality and consistency
  • Oversee food preparation and presentation to maintain UMAMI’s high standards
  • Ensure compliance with all food hygiene, health, and safety regulations (including UK food safety standards)
  • Manage stock control, inventory, and supplier relationships
  • Maintain cost controls and minimize food waste while ensuring efficiency
  • Train and mentor junior chefs, fostering a positive and dynamic kitchen environment
  • Step in to lead the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie in a high-volume, multi-cuisine environment
  • Passion for global flavours and innovative cuisine
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills
  • Excellent knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety, and hygiene standards
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • A hands-on approach with keen attention to detail
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
